Term 4 Week 5 Update
From the Principal
Dear Calwell Families,
All students and staff have returned to school and we are looking forward to providing our students and school community with a positive end to a school year that has certainly had its challenges.
Pick-up Arrangements
Thank you for your patience and cooperation. While the collection of students is going reasonably well, to ensure we can maximise teaching time and to avoid traffic issues within the car park or on Downard St and Casey Cres it is vital that parent/carers coming to collect students at the end of the day arrive from 3.05pm onward. Please help us to use valuable class time for teaching and learning rather than packing up. Students are still in class until 3pm and need time to make their way to the pick-up areas. Our goal is that this process does not require our teachers to undertake a car park duty. We can achieve this with your support. The pick-up process is smooth and efficient when everyone follows the process. Please note the school gate will remain closed until 3pm.
School Improvement & Climate Survey
There is still time to complete this important survey. Your feedback is valued and the greater the number of responses the more accurately the data reflects community views. This year’s survey is quite short. The link to the survey was sent to families via email on Monday 18 October.
Planning for 2022
A friendly reminder that if your child/ren will not be returning to the school next year please let us know via this link https://forms.gle/ipFNzKpp4AhU9pxi8
We will soon also be working on forming classes for 2022. Parent/carers are invited to provide information or make requests via the following link. https://forms.gle/6fs3i3P6jX1srnrn7
Please note: Only requests made via this link will be considered. Once classes are formed later this year it is not possible to make changes.
NAPLAN
The NAPLAN Reports for Year 3 & 5 students will be sent home tomorrow with students. NAPLAN is one tool used to measure student progress and should be considered in conjunction with school assessments and reports. If you have any questions regarding the NAPLAN report please contact our Deputy Principal, Katie Brown via email or phone call. Katie.brown@ed.act.edu.au
Parent Engagement / P&C
One of the impacts of the recent lockdown was that our work on re-establishing a parent/carer community group was interrupted. You may recall that we have the necessary core executive members led by our School Board Chair, Megan Fox, who have been busy preparing the required Constitution to enable us to start 2022 with a community group / P&C. The first step is to select a name. Please take the opportunity to let us know your preferred choice of name via the following link https://forms.gle/qkLgHvgcNojHjaQz7
